A well-deserved pat on the back to our surveyor Mark Brookman!
Mark Brookman who has been working at STax since February 2019 has not only organised but completed a charity cycle for St Barnabas House charity.
Mark was set to take part in the 'Hit the Downs MTB 2020' charity cycle in May, however due to the COVID 19 restrictions the organisers had decided to postpone the event until 11th October.
Mark trained hard and even roped his son Ben and cousin Stephen in to complete the charity run with him forming the team self-named as 'The Slo-Mo Bikers.
After months of training Mark, Ben & Stephen were fit ready! However, a week before the event was now set to take place the organisers had decided to postpone the event again until 2021 for fears over the continued pandemic.
After all the training Mark, son Ben and cousin Stephen decided to take on the mammoth MTB alone.
Mark approached the organisers of the event and asked if they could still complete the MTB independently. The organisers were thrilled and agreed.
The team rode approximately 30km over harsh terrain with an elevation gain of 464m over and an average speed of 13km/h Mark mentions "we went much faster downhill" overall the not so 'Slo-Mo Bikers' managed to complete the course in around 3hrs.
"I couldn't have completed it without the kind sponsorship from the STax colleagues." -Mark Brookman
Mark and his team managed to gain sponsorship from Marks colleges at STax totalling around £270 for St Barnabas House.
Well done Mark from everybody at STax.
